There is “good,” and there is “better.” We oftentimes want to make common events better. Whether we are planning a conference, party, or parade, our goal is to make the event as outstanding as possible. This hope originates from various sources, such as our need to achieve. Likewise, when we plan any trip, such as a business trip or vacation, we hope to make it as successful as possible. If you are planning a motorcycle road trip, here are some tips to make a good trip, even better:
1. Be prepared for changes
Motorcycle road trips provide many types of challenges, for which you should be prepared to adjust. There are changes in the weather, changes in the roads, and changes in what you should pack for your trip. Of course, you should bring supplies to be completely prepared for the trip. Some items to pack include:
• clothes
• quarters (for Laundromats)
• snacks
• toiletries
Nevertheless, while you should certainly be prepared, in general you should make a point to travel light. Bring the necessities, and leave the luxuries at home. This will help to add to the thrill of motorcycle road trips.
2. Learn about the history of motorcycles and motorcycle road trips
While history is interesting, it can have a tremendous impact on our lives. For instance, did you know that the motorcycle’s invention dates back to 1885? Trips on motorcycles were limited at that time, to getting from Point A to Point B more efficiently. However, by the middle of the 20th century, motorcycles grew bigger. This allowed cyclists to take longer trips and to take them as a hobby.
3. Take pictures
When going on a motorcycle road trip, you encounter an array of fascinating landscapes, people, and structures. As the saying goes, “Take a picture. It will last longer.” Regardless of what type of camera you have, take the time to take pictures. When you get home, you can share them with family and friends, and preserve the memories forever.
4. Carry your luggage in saddlebags
Saddlebags provide one of the best ways to haul your luggage. They can help you to carry a wide variety of luggage, both big and small. While you can bolt some of them onto your motorcycle, others are more “mobile” by being easier to remove. Furthermore, saddlebags are available in a variety of shapes and sizes, making them perfect for one or two riders, and short or long trips.
Leather saddlebags have a wide variety of benefits. While road trips can cake your cycle with dust and mud, leather is very easy to clean. In addition, leather is more lightweight than other materials (i.e. plastic), making it easier to detach the saddlebag from the motorcycle, and then carry it. Finally, while leather is a durable material, its soft and supple texture is quite natural. It represents the escape to nature, which motorcycle road trips provide.
You can make a good motorcycle trip into a better one, by following some basic guidelines. Are you ready to hit the road?
