Motorcycle saddle bags have already been with us for quite a long time. However, like most essential things we use in our daily lives, we tend to take the wonderful history of these creations. This article will give you some facts to understand the history and evolution of the saddlebags which may eventually add up to your appreciation and further understanding of the motorcycle culture as a whole.

Beginnings

1950s was the decade where motorcycle saddle bags have been first used. The throw-over type could be considered as the pioneer type, having been used in that era. However, hard-mount saddlebagshave also started to evolve within time.

As the motorcycle industry boomed in the 1960s, demands with the developments on saddlebags also heightened. More and more motorcycle users are using their vehicles for more businesses by thistime requiring them to carry more. They have already started using their bikes in longer travels requiring more durable and trustworthy materials in their luggage carriers. With this, larger saddlebags were created. In turn, hard-mount saddlebags gained even more popularity.

The developments

The motorcycles evolved, developed and improved with its accessories. Owners find ways on their own how to improve the situation by bolting the bags on their motorcycle frames while makers made Motorcycles became more reliable to suit longer travels, and the bags became more attractive and practical.

In time, makers also improved the ways on how their customers can easily attach the saddlebags on their vehicles. Drilling holes were eradicated because of the struts that made mounting of the bags easier, which were even more developed, later on, so that riders can attach more accessories to it.

Furthermore, as the Japanese manufacturers saw the big importance of the saddlebags with the users, they started redesigning their motorcycles, making it more saddle bag-friendly. One significant change they made was by making an alteration that would prevent the saddlebags from covering the turn signal, which was a common issue with smaller bikes.

More changes

In the 1980s, as bikes continues to get bigger, manufacturers started to create fiberglass saddlebags, which were way sturdier than any another material. This became quite a trend for a time, but most recently, bikers went back to using leather saddlebags because of its versatility and freedom to let the owners customize.

Motorcycle saddlebags have really evolved a lot through time. However, it is still making more promise to continuously answer bikers’ demands.

Bus Terminus 汽车站? Shouldn’t it be a different word? How do you differentiate between just a bus stop or a terminus? The bus stops are usually just along the road. The sidewalks will just sport bus stop signs and there are lines in the road indicating that buses stop there. And a bus terminus is underneath a a building or outside in the open with multiple bus stops and lanes. Usually it’s the beginning or end of the line for those buses.

Sorry if you think that scrolling through the list is dumb, but for the words that I DID put down in Chinese.. I do NOT know if they are correct, so they have to be checked, they might be wrong or there’s a better way to say them. So please consider that I do not know any them.

About the taxis, that’s how it is where I live. I’m not talking about in China. How would I describe the taxis here in Chinese?

Haven’t got time to look through all of them, but bus terminal and bus stop can be differentiated by adding one word. So bus terminal should be 公车总站.
As for Pedicab, I’m not sure what you are referring to, but i think 人力车 is more commonly used for trishaw?

and just by the way, I would use 巴士 for bus instead of 汽车, which I believe is mostly used for private cars like sedans and such.
