Riding your motorcycle can be fun when nothing bothers you while driving. You wear your helmets and sunglasses properly with the right tightness to avoid getting them to fall off. Proper body positioning is ensured to have the right balance, at the same time avoid getting wobbly while driving. You keep your eye on the road to because getting on this vehicle makes you vulnerable to mishaps. A simple miscalculation of movements can lead to terrible accidents that can take away your life with just a blink in the eye.
You cannot drive a cruiser properly if you do not know how to control everything about you and the vehicle. Great precision and control is mainly achieved simply by freeing your mind and body from all sorts of restraints. As much as possible, you should be able to drive the bike without getting your bags on the way. Knapsacks or body bags can be used when traveling with this mode of transportation because they can hug your body tight. However, you will be in a better riding condition if you can drive without anything that is slung on your body. Therefore a perfect alternative to bring you stuff with you while riding is through motorcycle saddle bags.
These accessories can help you much when properly installed. Otherwise, it can cause you more problems that you could ever imagine. First and foremost, the road is not always flat and smooth. If it happens that the installation of this equipment is not properly done, it could hit the sides of your vehicle and that can loose your concentration. Second, if it is too loose you could end up spilling your things on the road and this can delay your time. If you are in a hurry, you will end up being late. Third, if parts or things hit unusual places like your wheels, this can result into a tragedy especially when you are riding on a fast speed.
If you want to know how to secure your saddle bags properly, check this out:
1. When using bolt-ons, make sure that you screw it in tightly. They are usually attached on the fenders of the vehicle, therefore before you install it inspect for damages on the area where it will be mounted. These kinds of accessories now come in with mounting kits. You should double check the components before attaching them to the vehicle. Aside from this, you need to double check the manufacturer of your bikes to determine if these motorcycle saddle bags purchased can fit on them.
2. When using throw-overs, the important thing that you need to ensure is to keep it from bouncing. To prevent this from happening, the rider should ensure that the item bought fits well on the vehicle. The yoke should fit well under the seat in order to avoid it from moving. There are measurements that you can take in order to make it fit well. If your bike is too big, you may be required to use a yoke extender.

When you purchase a motorcycle, chances are you are going to get the basic product with no additional customization unless you buy from a private seller who has already decked out their motorcycle with lots of extras. There are hundreds of items that can be purchased to customize your ride just the way you like it. The sky is the limit when it comes to motorcycle customization, you just have to pick and choose what you want based on your preferences and your budget.
The front fender of your motorcycle can be customized in a number of different ways. It can be custom painted to look the way you want. You can also purchase chrome trim to give it a little extra chrome flash. The front rims can also be customized with chrome trim to match the front fender.
The headlights are one of the more important pieces of equipment on your motorcycle. Nobody has ever said less light is better, so one option you have is adding more light units to your headlight system. Headlight mount kits can be purchased for just about any motorcycle and can be easily attached to your motorcycle to add an extra light on either side of your original headlight. This gives you twice the seeing power at night, and a little extra notice ability during the day which increases your safety level.
When it comes to the engine there are a number of possibilities for customization. You can purchase chrome rivets, caps, and covers for just about any part of the engine that you can see. Instead of having the dull metal coloring that usually comes stock on bikes straight out of the factory, you can now add chrome covering to give it more flash and appeal. The gas tank can also be custom painted to match the front fender if you had it painted. For a little added convenience, you can throw on some highway bars to give your bike a little extra character.
If you’re not satisfied with the way the stock exhaust sounds on your motorcycle, then there is always the option of throwing on some custom exhaust to give your bike a better, louder sound and in most cases, a little more efficiency. Since custom exhaust systems are typically lighter and tuned better than the stock factory exhaust systems that are installed, they often contribute to better gas mileage and fuel efficiency.
There are a number of different options available for the backend of the motorcycle. If you’re looking to add luggage space, you can install saddle bags of any size to fit your needs. Saddlebags can be purchased in leather or in hard case, often fiberglass or plastic, to give it a more structured feel. The hard saddlebags can be painted if you’ve got a certain color in mind. You can also install a luggage rack on the back to provide more storage space if that is what you need.
When it comes to customizing your motorcycle there are hundreds of possibilities and if you have the resources to do so, you can customize just about every external part you can find to give your motorcycle that custom look and feel.

Motorcycle Saddlebags Or Tank Bags Which To Get?

Motorcycle Luggage Straps

Riding a motorcycle these days is not only fun but with today’s gas prices it is also quite economical. The only problem with riding a bike is that their is a serious lack of storage unless you happen to have a Goldwing or maybe a Harley Dresser you’re going to need some saddlebags or some sort of tank bag to carry your stuff in. Their are ups and downs to both choices and some of it also depends on your motorcycle. If you have a cruiser your ideal choice is probably some sort of saddlebags or luggage type bags. For Sport Bikes the easy answer is likely to be a tank bag.
If you have a cruiser choosing a saddlebag for your ride is really a matter of taste. Their are so many too choose from its not even funny. Motorcycle saddlebags come in a variety of styles. Most are made of some type of leather or a synthetic material. Modern Saddlebags generally have a hard case liner in side which keeps the shape of the bag. When choosing a saddle bag it is best to choose something that will look good on your motorcycle. If you get something you don’t like you are not as likely to use it. Bags come with studs and fringes and even locks if you want. You can choose from either permanently mounted saddle bags or ones that can easily come off the bike. I recommend you get some that can be removed easily so they can be carried in with you if you are planning to ride your bike to work or some other place where you will be away from the bike for a while. Most motorcycle saddle bags can be removed easily and put back on just as quickly. If you decide on some that mount permanently make sure they lock. Some of your more popular saddlebag makers are Saddlemen, Saddle Stow, Willie and Max, Ace, and ZR. Their are more brands than these but these are the major manufacturers for motorcycle saddlebags. Most of these are easily mounted and come with all the necessary hardware. Also T-Bags makes some really nice Sissy Bar Bags that have a decent amount of storage space. T-Bags also makes motorcycle luggage to fit most cruisers as well as sport bikes.
For sport bike riders the preference tends to be a tank bag. Since saddlebags tend to lean more towards the classic look they aren’t to appealing to riders of sport bikes. Tank Bags are actually a great alternative to saddlebags, most are expandable and can carry quite a bit of stuff as wells as that most tank bags have side pockets for extra storage. Most tank bags use a magnetic mounting system in combination with a strap that ties of to the steering head of the bike. This makes it really easy to pull the tank bag of and on with out it being a big pain. This makes it easy to take off the bike and carry with you if you plan on being away from the bike for a while. Most of these bags also have a carrying handle which makes it even easier for you to carry the bag with you. Their are a lot of different tank bag sizes available so it is important to pick a size the will suit your needs. I recommend one that is expandable which will allow you to make it compact or expand it for more capacity when needed. Also when picking a tank bag you want to pick one that is water resistant in case you get caught in a down pour. Most tank bags are either made from water resistant material or come with a built in rain cover.

Leather saddlebags and leather luggage are a practical and important accessory for any motorcycle rider. Not only do motorcycles look great accessorized with these item but they are also a necessity. This is because you need a place to store important items when riding. Be it a short or long trip you still need to bring some things with you like your cell phone.
Some of the most important items you need are generally in your wallet, drivers license, registration, credit cards money etc. But other items should be carried when riding as well, like tools. In case you get a flat, you should have whatever quick fix is available for your bike. You will need wrenches that fit your bike, flares and flashlight. You should also have available to you a few spare fuses, spark plug and extra light bulbs. Gloves and rain gear are good to have because the weather can change quickly. If you have leather saddlebags or even the right leather luggage you can fit all of these items into them.
Now if you are planning on longer trips besides the above mentioned items you’ll need to consider snacks, extra clothes, sunscreen and lip balm. A first aid kit with antiseptic ointments, bandages and pain relievers. Also, bring a camera to capture and save the amazing sites and scenery or people you see on your ride. But, be sure to stop riding and be off the road when snapping those pictures. You’ll be happy you did this when a few years down the road you can look back at all you have seen and done. All of these items and more can be stored in your saddlebags or leather luggage.
Since there is a vast variety of leather saddlebags and leather luggage available you will need to choose what you want and prefer because only you will know what kind of trips you plan to take. There is a wide variety on-line to choose from. And yes, I advise shopping on-line as dealers and showrooms usually charge double to triple the price you really need to pay. They also might persuade you into heavier weight plastic saddlebags or nylon which do not last as long as leather. Leather is lighter weight making it easier to carry, easily cleaned and very long lasting and durable.
So now to decide on the saddlebags. There are the throw over which are tied or buckled under the fender and seat. These are easily removable, but if you are worried about robbers you can get some locks to prevent this. The other kind of saddlebags are bolted on, which bolts securely to your motorcycle. These take more time installing and getting off. You also need to be more exact in the measurements of your bike to see what size can fit. Leather luggage can be purchased separately or in sets. But the items usually consist of tool bags to attach to the handlebars, barrel bags or backpack bags that can be attached to a sissy bar and windshield bags. You can even get complete sets that include everything, including the saddlebags, in all the same style and material and usually cost much less than buying individually.
Besides holding all of your items leather saddlebags and leather luggage are a great way to show your style. You can find a wide variety, some with fringe, conchos, studs, buckles, zippers or snaps. (Although buckles are better for deterring a passerby and grabbing your things rather than snaps). You can even get heavy duty waterproof PVC leather. Some already have patches already in place to show your individuality or to match your other leather gear like your motorcycle vest, leather jacket, and chaps. All of which are essential to any motorcycle rider. Go on-line and check out what is available to complete your riding experience. Stay safe and happy riding.
